As previously discussed, it seems reasonable to conclude that the death of the Two Witnesses of Revelation chapter 11 either is itself, or is linked to, the Abomination of Desolation described in Daniel chapters 9 and 12, and Matthew chapter 24 (NIV):
7 "Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
11 But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, 'Come up here.' And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on."
The language used in Revelation 11 is very similar to Revelation 4 (NIV):
"After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, 'Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.'"
These events are analogs of the resurrection, transformation, and ascension of the Body of Christ (the Church). If the Abomination of Desolation is actually a three day event, the day counts described in Daniel chapter 12 may have overlapping or dual fulfillments (NIV):
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days."
To review, the "time that the daily sacrifice is abolished" may be a veiled reference to the Final Jubilee, but it may also be a reference to the end of the age of grace (or Church age). This is because after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D., the Church became the Living Temple, indwelt by the Holy Spirit. The daily experience of the Church became one of "living sacrifice" per Romans chapter 12 (NIV):
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."
Therefore, the Third Temple cannot be constructed and dedicated until the Church is taken out of the way. Given the parallel between the resurrection and ascension of the Two Witnesses, and the resurrection and ascension of the Church, it is possible that the day counts of Daniel 12 track to both the beginning and end of the Abomination of Desolation. In other words, the beginning of the Final Jubilee would track 1290 days to the completion of the Two Witnesses' ministry, and the Harvest of the Church would track 1290 days to the resurrection and ascension of the Two Witnesses.
This would modify our prospective timeline as follow:
9/26/2020 sunset in Jerusalem (6:30 pm Jerusalem time or 11:30 am Eastern US)
+ 1290 days =
4/8/2024 death of Two Witnesses; Abomination of Desolation begins; second Great American Eclipse
9/26/2020 sunset in Jerusalem
+ 3.5 days (84 hours) =
9/30/2020 (6:30 am Jerusalem time) or 9/29/2020 (11:30 pm Eastern US)
+ 1290 days =
4/12/2024 (or 4/11/2024) resurrection of Two Witnesses; Abomination of Desolation ends
As previously mentioned, the USA is currently the world's dominant Gentile power, and likely fills the role of Babylon described in Revelation chapter 18. In some ways, the Harvest of the Church will be a tremendous judgment upon the world system. It will bring tremendous chaos from which will emerge the antichrist system of total control. That said, there are numerous verses in scripture which depict the Lord's judgment falling like a thief in the night. For example, returning to Matthew 24 (NIV):
38 "For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
These verses are interesting in that they imply that for most, the coming of the Son of Man will be a complete surprise. However, for those keeping watch, it may not be as much of a surprise, although it may still come at an unexpected time. This may mean that it will not fall precisely on a Festival day, but will still fulfill all the requirements of prophetic scripture.
So, we watch and wait. Come Lord Jesus.
